The clouds at sunset last night were piling up getting ready for an outstanding lightening show...

Nice capture and your exposure was spot on!
We got some lightning last night, too. I took pictures of the rainbow we got, but of course my view isn't as pretty as yours so I won't be posting it.

we don't get as many rainbows as I'd expect with all this open space...so  for catching one :D

Jack was the one who saw it when he went out to change the water on the lawn. Later he went out and saw the clouds were looking rather pretty he called me out again. I also watched the lightning for a bit, but no bolts up close for photographing. :(

Beautiful!
We have not been getting the thunder and lightning that you have, just the clouds... You know the jokes about washing your car just before a rain... Do you think it might work with buying frozen groceries before an electrical storm? I just went shopping at TJ's.

 I wouldn't want to chance that! We've only had power out when it was realllly hot and then the morning it snowed...the two extreams...at least one time last month was an actual problem with rats in the wires at an empty house at the top of our road...
