:giggle: that one is for sure, i was lucky to find a green patch but everywhere surrounding it was brown for sure. i got another capture with a different butterfly that's more similar to your background. it's just that time of year! :D thank you so much Ruth!

here is a wonderful link to the butterflies of El Dorado County - [link] the pictures are decent and local...too often I found myself randomly looking on the internet and I'd be trying to match to butterflies from the east coast or wherever and getting really frustrated so knowing that these are IN my county makes it much easier to identify them!

oh wow! this is an amazing site! thank you so much for sharing it with me. :D i thought that this might be a butterfly or maybe a moth becuase it's so brown [link] but from that site it looks to be from the Lycaenidae (Gossamer-Wing Butterflies) family. i was searching for that! :P thanks for helping me!!

This was a little one compared to the orange Mormon one, right? I saw them too, they must like the same kinds of flowers, but I hadn't gone looking to id it yet...so thanks go to you for saving me the trouble

The best way to tell moths from butterflies is by their antenea - moths are fuzzy and butterflies are not...
