Love is in the air!
A pair of Anna's hummingbirds were flying, well hovering, just a few inches off the tile patio when I noticed them...they then settled down on the ground. The male on the right was very vocal with different sounds than the usual squeaks and chitters. And he had his red helmet and cheek feathers all spread like a fan! ,
They were on the ground long enough for me to watch briefly, sneak into the house to grab my camera, come back out and snap a couple shots. I was trying to get them on video when the mood was broken and they flew off ): I've seen a pair in their courtship flutterings but never seen them land on the ground!
