Mourning by kayaksailor Mourning by kayaksailor
This for the The Dark Side of Autumn Contest held by :icontrees-with-character:.

full valley view:

The loss of a beloved pet affects your life like a mist covering your view and robbing the day of color... some good friends unexpectedly lost one of their great Danes last night and this is a bit of a memorial...and now this good friend too, has died...you will be missed Rob...

I like this photograph, you've captured the bright blue skies, brooding mountains and the trees that litter over them brilliantly. The mist/fog (?) is also a very nice touch to this picturesque photo.
The only critique I have for you is probably that some parts of the shot is a little too dark and hard to see, so maybe you should have waited for the sunlight to hit a spot where this beautiful capture can be looked on with a clearer view. (Maybe it's your take on 'the dark side of autumn though? xD)
Other than that though, this is a really lovely photograph and your entry would definitely win my vote. (:
This is my first attempt at a critique, so it might not really be top-notch, ahahha.

It is off my back deck :D We live in the foothills of the Sierras east of Sacramento, California at about 1400' elevation...if you could see into the distant fog, you'd be looking into the San Joaquin Valley and on a really clear day you can see all the way to the Coastal Range and Mount Diablo

Macey's death came as a complete shock. She went from normal to gone in 3 hours. Neither of us has experienced that. My mother, Kathy's father and 7 dogs before all went over time, we knew what was coming. That quickness was so much harder, no time to prepare. Going from the expectations of a fun evening with friends I don't see often, having that excited high, to this made it even worse.
Life goes on though and this gorgeous picture is a wonderful reminder of this. We celebrate life and we are blessed by the friends we have made.
Thank you.

LOL, it does take a bit of learning...I still use the preview button occationally to make sure what I want has worked...and I've never actually read what some of the econs "say" the : blowkiss: says "here's a kiss for you my love" :wow: I may not be so free with using it now :giggle: I've just used it as a blown kiss!!

It's such a shame. We had the same with both of ours, one had cancer that we didnt know about and the other had a stroke :( We only lasted a month though before getting a new dog!
