A ghost crab that we disturbed was a pretty good model on the Outer Banks, NC, shore with the Atlantic Ocean in the background

For some reason, might have just been the time of year, but there were dozens and dozens of mermaids' purses - skate shark egg cases littering the beach :love:

people walking by were laughing at my daughter and me as I crawled around on my knees and elbows as my daughter was "wrangling" it for me :giggle:

I've spent most of my 54 years within about ten miles of the ocean (these last four years in eastern CA has been hard :laughing:) so it always amazes me a bit when I meet or talk with people who have never seen it.... My daughter and I worked at a small aquarium for a couple years when she was in highschool - loved how interested people from the mid-west who'd never seen all the cool creatures were :love:

Gorgeous shot of these very funny guys. The first time I saw one of these was in NC. It was my first trip out of Canada and not knowing any better, I put my towel down on the beach and laid on it. It didn't take long for the pinching to start from underneath me!!! I can't tell you how surprised I was to see some of these guys when I lifted the towel.

:iconcrabbyplz: LOL! I can sooooo see you laying there :rofl: We only saw this one guy out and about - and I think it was not happy that we wouldn't let it get back to his hole :giggle: but we sure had fun shooting :love:
