Artist's Comments

Playing with levels...poppies would not be open in the moonlight as they close when the sun goes down ...

:iconbubblywums:
Beautiful photo, I am liking the selective focus on the middle flowers rather than having the entire photo in focus.

I happen to like the post processing, the blues mix well with the yellows and oranges of the flowers, and the blue blends nicely with the green grass. It definitely gives it that moonlight feel.

I do happen to notice quite a bit of noise, especially on the unfocused flowers. I'm not sure what your ISO setting was, but that's something to watch for.

Your choice of angle is excellent. I feel like I am right among the flowers themselves. :) Well done.

This image has a very strong graphical style which gives it immediate appeal for me. The poppies are an excellent subject and the the warm yellow orages against the blue greens of the grass make them eye catching focal points. This image is a great example of effective use of selective focus to both simplify the image and create interest. The way the flowers are distributed about the image is generally pleasing and it is nice to see separation between the majority of the flowers.

I am not usre about the processing of this image however. The darkening and drastic colour shifting involved in the image is offputting. I would also question the merit of this decision against the idea of the image. If the idea was indeed to shoot and process the shot as if to show it in moonlight then perhaps this is a ste in the right direction however this idea seems a little contrived to me and upon veiwing the image I would not know that this was the artists intention were it not for the title.

For me more natural processing would have done this shot justice and whilst it would have lost its unique colour palette and become a poppy shot like many before it, it would have created a much more pleasing atmosphere.
