I was just talking to a friend who lives up where I took this last year - another 6 inches of snow is forecast for Thursday - yuck! That means we'll get lots of rain down here...and more flooding further down in the San Joaquin Valley. Ah well, Cait's got new tires - maybe we'll go up and see if we can find more 'winter' shots :giggle:

i so love the cornus florida
flower. there is another variety
that is called davidia involocrata and the flower hangs down, looks like a ghost and smells so sweet.

snow :]

Oh wow! they DO look like ghosts!! Thanks for the link.

We've been seeing 'wild' one's up in the slightly higher elevations mixed in with the pines - the weather has been cooler than usual so there aren't a lot open yet but we keep driving back waiting...I brought a few branches home and those matured and opened fully

I'm seriously thinking of seeing if I can get a pink and/or white hybrid to grow in my garden - they are so lovely!! But we may get too hot and dry in the summers :(

that would be great, i am not sure of
their zone. in my climate they grow
really well and for the last few weeks
the cornus flowers have been out, a
very pretty sight. it is our provincial
flower so it is an offence to pick them
but some night i am going to be a
rebel and get one small branch for
displaying in a vase.
don't tell any one :)

:shh: I won't tell :giggle:
I know that they grow very well about 1500 feet higher and I've seen the domesticated ones closer, but we've got a windy and dry exposure during the summer so I'll have to do some investigation :library:
