Great composition! Looks like you could walk right into it and feel the cold water running. Such a lovely place! Lucky you. :D

 It was very different to me: the variety of plants along the water edge...very, very different than the "rivers" in Southern California! Down there the rivers run basically only when it is raining and the plants on the edges are almost non-existant!

Very interesting! Are you from Sousthern California? and where this river was taken?

Must be great to see other country like that. :)

Up until about 3 months ago we were near the town of Ventura (about 60 miles north of Los Angeles, on the ocean, and about 30 south of Santa Barbara for reference) in a little town inland about 6 miles. In Southern CA most rivers and streams only run in the winter when it has been raining enough for the gound table to fill or when it is actually raining and the runoff is being carried away!

We have now moved to Northern California - about 45 miles east of Sacramento up in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains on the way to Lake Tahoe. Where we live the streams have now dried but the large rivers coming down from the Sierra's still have water - in fact will have it year round. And that is really different!!!

This particular shot is about another 30 miles east further up into the mountains - it is one of the branches of the American River which flows down into the Sacramento River and eventually out to the Pacific Ocean by way of the San Francisco Bay - if it hasn't been sucked up by the canal that takes water down to Southern California by way of the Aquaduct systems... :D

It is very different to have this kind of scenery nearby. Where we live isn't too different, on the surface, from our old home - same rolling hills with now dried grass and Oak trees - but the kind of Oaks are different...these will loose their leaves! We're looking forward to a true fall and a considerably cooler winter, but I don't think we'll have snow right at our house. But up where these shots were taken, there will be!!! :w00t:
