A view of the hills to the west of our new home. Sitting in the shade on the little hidden bench will be bliss when the weather gets hot!

 I never thought I'd ever live somewhere this wonderful! Friends down south couldn't understand why we were leaving what to them was a wonderful place, but anyone coming here would understand! I love southern California - all the places we lived were marvelous in their own ways, but I never thought we'd own close to eight acres with this kind of open space right on our fenceline... it is had to contemplate when you are used to southern CA conjestion.

I truly know why you love it. I love my space and my quiet. I don't think I could live in congestion.

that quiet is so amazing! Today we heard a dog barking and my husband's reflex was 'what the ...' We suddenly realized we hadn't heard a dog bark in weeks! Cars only come by when they're lost or they're coming to see us - we truely are at 'where the grass and the dirt and the gravel all meet'! And that is such sweet solace to my husband who has suffered through 25 years down in southern California...poor baby :giggle: And we didn't really live in any large towns or big neighborhoods!

From what I've seen of it so far, this looks like a very pretty place. I really like the light in this, though, too. Not too bright, but not dark, either--and just the tiniest bit of pink up in the clouds and on the hill itself. I really love it, makes me want to live there!

Unfortunately the green grass has begun to brown off... but the trees will stay green 'til fall. It will be different having the oak trees loose their leaves, the one's down south stay green all year!

We've all been enjoying the changing light on these hills...this morning I was up at 5:30 :faint: and sat watching the sun come from behind the hill, the shadows shorten and the grass glow! So great :D It was so nice and fresh AND cool (my car's thermometer registered 101 yesterday - 104 down the hill today, but only 95 up here!)
