Wild night by kayaksailor Wild night by kayaksailor
(wall paper sized)

Here in California we rarely get lightning storms. This is a 30 second exposure (yes, those are stars) of the wild weather we had last night! Lightning for over six hours! Thank goodness there were no fires started (at least none I've heard about!)

Taken from my deck

I was sooo thrilled  the orange was such a strange reaction! I would have thought it was reflection from lights but there aren't any cities of that strength anywhere near that direction! love the result anyway

Fires are scary since it's so dry out there. Glad you got to enjoy the power of the storm without any negative repercussions.

read later that there were over 2800 strikes! And there were a couple that did a bit of burning beyond the original tree, but all totaled less than 90 acres - not bad at all!

2800! Wow that's a lot. I wonder how they record that sort of thing?

I think there's some way of tracking them with the Doppler weather satellites  but I really don't know
